Let’s Remember the Moonwalk on July 20, 2013!

Come on out to the museum for a special day! Our museum is trying to do some fun activities in the coming months, so keep an eye out for special days like this one.

On Saturday, July 2oth, the first 35 children ages 8-12 who sign-up for the Make-it, Take-it rocket class will be able to build a little rocket with the Homestead Rocket Club. There is an additional fee of $2 for those children participating added to the museum entry fee to help cover supplies .  We can’t launch the rockets, so the engine is not included. For some reason, as you can imagine, airport management and the FAA gets concerned when rockets start flying zipping around the airport.

Everyone else will receive a discounted entry fee in honor of the Apollo Moonwalk.

Other special activities include:  The Nike Missile veterans and park rangers from Everglades National Park doing a presentation and the Southern Cross Astronomical Society will be visiting (weather permitting) with their solar telescopes.

The museum doors open at 10:00 am. The children’s rocket event starts at 11:00 am and the Nike Missile talk will be following at about 12:20 pm. The solar viewing depends on the cloud cover, but they hope to set up by 11:00 am.
