Walter H. Orth, Jr.

Walt OrthWalt is a retired senior executive from Lucent Technologies and past CEO of a South Florida Telecommunications Company. He and his wife Bobbie reside in Coral Gables, Florida.

He holds a degree in Business Administration from Rutgers University and has done graduate business study at Centenary College, Penn State University, Harvard University and IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland.

He served four years in the United States Army as a platoon leader, executive officer, and company commander of several armor units, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant.

He is a past Trustee and Moderator at Plymouth Congregational Church and remains active as Chairman of Buildings and Grounds. He is also a Trustee at Viscaya Museum and Gardens.

Walt has been a licensed pilot since 1972 with approximately 2000 hours of flight experience. He holds a commercial license, with ratings for instrument flight, single engine land and sea planes. He also holds an unrestricted glider rating and FAST certification for Wingman and Lead Formation Pilot.

He is a member of EAA Warbirds, North American Trainer Association, Commemorative Air Force, AOPA and the Valiant Air Command.

He is active at Wings Over Miami Air Museum, being one of the four founder s where he frequently participates in airshows and museum activities. Walt also owns a 1953 M38A1 Military Willys Jeep that he restored to Factory Class condition and is on display at the Museum.
