John is a practicing orthopedic surgeon specializing in spine surgery. He is a native of Miami and has two children, his 11 and 7 year old sons.
He received his medical degree from the University of Florida and finished his orthopedic training in Denver, Illinois, and Baltimore. He is in practice with the Spine Center of Miami in Coral Gables. He is also an FAA designated Aviation Medical Examiner for Class II and Class IU certifications.
John has been a licensed pilot since 1968 with single and multi-engine land and sea, instrument, and glider ratings. He has 3000 hours of flight experience including 500 hours of tail wheel experience.
He is a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the Valiant Air Command, the 0X5 Society, the Quiet Birdmen, and the Greater Miami Aviation Aircraft Association.
John currently owns and flies a Ryan PT-22 on display at the Museum and a Beech Baron 58.
Since January 2002, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Wings Over Miami Museum. He has enjoyed introducing others to his love of1930’s aviation and open cockpit flying. His father was an Eastern Airline Captain for 31 years; hence his direction was influenced early in life.
